Two million households have faced lockdown without a garden and the benefits to a young person’s development by having access to the outdoors, to green space and to nature are well evidenced.
Here at Active Learning Group we are dedicated to ensuring that children have access to exceptional learning, beyond the classroom, and we worked hard through lockdown to make our products more relevant and valuable than ever.
Since lockdown began, at least a million children will have missed out on overnight stays over the past year. For many of them this would have been their first, formative trip away from home and a vital part of their total educational experience.
We cannot wait for residentials to recommence and we believe children and families need us now, so we have launched our Let’s Go Safely campaign and the ALG Promise, which provides the operational confidence and financial security teachers, and parents, are looking for.
In the accompanying short blogs you will find examples of how we have continued to deliver outdoor learning experiences safely across our brands, and how we have adapted our services to meet the needs of young people. Full details of the ALG Promise can be found below.
In flexing our business to new circumstances, we are geared up and wholly ready to deliver the fun, adventure, socialisation and new skills that our children are now seeking more than ever before.
We look forward to a safe spring and summer where activities, exploration and fun in the great outdoors become part of all our lives, but particularly part of our young people’s daily lives. Rest assured ALG will be doing its bit to ensure we reduce the number of hours our young people spend inside and on screens and increase their physical time outdoors in the knowledge that it will help with their mental health. And, by reconnecting our young people with each other, we will hopefully see a marked improvement on their social and emotional wellbeing.
Everyone at ALG is passionate about getting children active and outdoors. We all see this as a vital part of a child’s development and each of our brands is focused on delivering this. Covid-19 has brought this aspect of life to a halt for many young people and we are genuinely concerned that a generation of young people are going to miss out on this aspect of their personal development.
Everyone at ALG is committed to getting going again – but safely. We have worked tirelessly to make our products, our locations, and our people Covid-secure and we are now ready to restart our operations and open our doors once more to our customers.
Some of our brands need Government restrictions to change before we can bring young people to the UK from overseas. Once these travel restrictions are lifted, however, the measures we have taken now will enable us to welcome them back again.
We realise that some schools may be nervous about committing to residential activities at this time. The industry is working hard with Government departments to agree a set of guidelines under which residential activities will be delivered. We have adopted these draft guidelines and are ready to go once the full guidance is released.
Schools may be reticent to book at this time especially given the treatment they received from some providers last summer. We are therefore offering all our customers the ALG Promise.
If you book a course now for delivery in 2021 you can secure your booking with a £250 booking fee.
Following your payment of the £250 booking fee, there will be nothing more to pay until the current restrictions on residential trips have been lifted, immediately following which you will pay the normal 25% deposit. In the event that you have paid any money and the course is cancelled due to a further Covid lockdown, ALG will refund your money in full.
Let’s Go Safely is the ALG guiding light to getting our business moving again and doing what it does best – delivering transformational learning experiences for young people. We hope our Covid Secure Procedures and the ALG Promise will enable you to join us on this journey.
